Al-Masar has successfully completed a 2- day workshop on the topic of “Communicating as Leaders”. The workshop was conducted by “The Talentology Training Company”. Topics discussed were:

· Communication Skills

· Types of personality

· Communication Channels

· Handling Anger

The workshop included practical training to improve communication skills and was a great success.

Al-Masar Participates in American Community School’s Career Day

Al-Masar Child Development Services  participated in the American Community School’s Career Fair on Wednesday 20th February, highlighting the field of Occupational Therapy as a career for graduating high school students to pursue in the future.  Many students were encouraged to consider ways they could use their academic talents and desire to help people in order to enrich the lives of children with special needs here in Jordan.

Recycling Competitions At Al-Masar School

Recycling Competitions At Al-Masar School

The Motto for this year for Al-Masar School is “Let’s Recycle”. Students are being educated about the importance of recycling, and are encouraged to recycle materials through a monthly art & craft class competition. The first competition was using empty toilet paper rolls, the second was using empty plastic water bottles and the third was using empty tissue boxes.

Specific Learning Difficulties

Since June 2012 Al-Masar Center has been presenting seminars about “Specific Learning Difficulties” in various Schools and Preschools in Amman, in order to spread awareness among parents and professionals regarding these difficulties. The seminar addresses early signs, symptoms and intervention strategies related to Learning Difficulties. (Building-Blocks Nursery, Baptist School,  Jumpstart Preschool, were amongst venues where the seminars were delivered).

The Speech and Language Therapy Department at Al-Masar, has successfully completed a 2-day workshop (9-10/11/2012) on the topic of “Cochlear Implant and Treatment Strategies for Hearing Loss”. 

The workshop included theoretical and practical skills building. It was very informative, and our speech-language therapists are ready to start working with children with hearing loss.

Vocational Training at Al-Masar School

Seeking to be actively responsive to our students’ needs, this year Al-Masar School  started implementing a transition plan to preparing our teen aged (16+) students for their lives beyond Al-Masar. Some of them may be with us for few more years, while for others, this year may be their last. Aiming to equip our students with skills that will prepare them to be as adaptive and independent as possible, the transition plan incorporates a vocational training element.
